I'm tired of people trying to sell that load of crap. Islam is doomed. The Muslims who are genuinely peace-loving (not the "yes, but..." Muslims) have lost control. Maybe never had it.

Baghdad blasts: More than 150 dead
The Sadr City bombings wrecked entire streets. A series of car bombs have killed at least 157 people in the predominantly Shia neighbourhood of Sadr City in Baghdad, in one of the deadliest spate of attacks since the US invasion three years ago.
Armed men also attacked the city's health ministry and fought security guards in a fierce gun battle, trapping 2,000 employees inside.
The six bombs, apparently coordinated, and a mortar blast in different parts of Sadr City, also left at least 268 more people wounded and wrecked whole streets.
Fires were blazing after the blasts and the government imposed a curfew across the capital, banning people and cars from the streets.
Officials said the toll could rise since many of the dead have been reduced to scattered body parts and not been fully counted.
After dark, there was sporadic gunfire in several districts.
State-run television said the Iraqi government has closed Baghdad International Airport to all commercial flights until further notice.
One of the blasts went off at a market, a regular target for Sunni fighters in the sectarian conflict that has killed thousands of people in Iraq. The neighbourhood is a stronghold of the Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.
Interior ministry sources said five people were wounded at the health ministry building, about 5km from Sadr City.
"The gunmen came in civilian cars and pick-up trucks and started shooting at the building"
The attackers fired mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns into the compound. The ministry is run by followers of al-Sadr.
Hakim al-Zamili, the deputy health minister, was trapped in the building with the employees.
He said: "First, a series of mortars were fired at the building from the nearby Al-Fadhel neighbourhood, and then about 100 masked gunmen holding machine guns attacked.
"The gunmen came in civilian cars and pick-up trucks and started shooting at the building and wounded a number of employees."
The attackers later withdrew after clashes with American and Iraqi security forces.
A health ministry spokesman said: "The gunmen fled as American helicopters and Iraqi armoured vehicles arrived. Employees were [later] able to leave."
The fighting lasted for several hours but the attackers failed to break into the ministry compound.

Islam is doomed.
Yea, right. Dream on!
Islam is the second-largest religion in the world today, with an estimated 1.4 billion adherents.

I understand what you thought I meant. No, Islam is not doomed as in going out of existence. There are a coupla' other meanings to the "doomed" thing. "Tragic fate" comes to mind.

Shiites Burn Six Sunni Worshippers Alive
Nov 24 10:45 AM US/Eastern

Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD, Iraq
Shiite militiamen grabbed six Sunnis as they left Friday worship services, doused them with kerosene and burned them alive near an Iraqi army post. The soldiers did not intervene, police Capt. Jamil Hussein said.
The savage revenge attack for Thursday's slaughter of 215 people in the Shiite Sadr City slum occurred as members of the Mahdi Army militia burned four mosques, and several homes while killing an unknown number of Sunni residents in the once-mixed Hurriyah neighborhood.
Gunmen loyal to radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr began taking over the neighborhood this summer and a majority of its Sunni residents already had fled.

JERUSALEM - Israeli troops withdrew from the Gaza Strip as a last-minute cease-fire deal took hold Sunday morning, but two major Palestinian militant groups, saying they had no intention of stopping their attacks, fired volleys of homemade rockets into Israel.
The ongoing rocket attacks by Hamas and Islamic Jihad tempered hopes for a lasting truce, which was meant to end five months of deadly clashes. The attacks caused no injuries.
So Golda Meir was right. "There can be no peace until the Muslims love their children more than they hate Israelis." Now the whole ME enchilada is hinging on Iran, Syria, and SA all getting involved in Iraqi peace and calling for an answer to the Palestenian issue. There is no answer to terrorism that rhetoric can solve. I am greatly saddened we cannot affect a lasting truce or peace. The West needs to understand we are dealing with hatred of a magnitude that cannot be resolved at a peace talk.

stocktiger...if not peace talks how do we solve the "problem" in the ME, with bombs?

In response to Islam - Religion of Blood posted by javelin:Well, as Julias Ceasar once remarked, "if you cannot make friends of your enemy, be sure you annihilate him."
As I recall, when Rome finally conquered Carthage, they not only took most of the women and the boys below 13 as slaves, but sowed the fields around Carthage with salt, so no crops could be raised for generations to come. And, salt was not cheap in those days.
If we can't stop Arabs from murdering Arabs in ever more ghastly ways, how do you expect to have a 'peace' between Israel and Hizb'allah, who have sworn never to accept anything except the complete annihilation of Israel?
This is something Arafat well understood! No matter what the terms, no 'peace' is possible with the Arabs. Check out the meaning of blood feud.

It does not seem likely to me that either bombs, peace talks, or democracy are going to stop the Sunnis, Shites, and other Muslim sects from killing each other. About the only thing the vast majority of Muslims all can agree on is that Israel has no right to exist and so all the Jews need to leave or be killed. It is that hatred that binds them together.
So why do they hate Israel and the West? Perhaps because their leaders blame the economic and social problems in their countries on the West (which is better than blaming themselves from their perspective). Another problem is the the religious leaders teach that the Koran makes all non-Muslims infidels. Infidels are the enemy and must be shown the light (convert to Islam) or eliminated. Now if the Israelis and the West could be eliminated it would be a lot easier for the leaders in these countries to continue to control their constituents in order to enrich themselves.
So put me in the skeptical camp when it comes to either going to war or having peace talks with Muslim countries of the ME because the citizens are for the most part so brainwashed that they are not interested in reason or reality. Their faith trumps both.
Perhaps no one can come up with a solution to the ME problems because there is no rational road to peace. Am I wrong?

There was a US General around the early 1900's faced with similar issues in the Phillipines. The details elude me but I have heard he rounded up a bunch of radicals, killed them, and buried them in pigskins. This quelled hostilites for quite awhile.
What many of you fail to understand is you cannot bargain with terrorists, extremists, or religious fanatics. Albert Einstein once said the definiton of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Of course I hate WAR, killing and all of it but sometimes there is no choice.
Peace talks have done wonders for the Israelis. Get a freakin clue already.

In response to Islam - Religion of Blood posted by stocktiger:You have it about right! The war with the "civil insurectionists" in the Phillipines, following the Spanish-American war (after which Spain ceded the Phillipines to us) was mostly fought by our Marines and Army versus these muslim "terrorists." Like the ancient berserkers, they would bind themselves up to control any large loss of blood from a single wound and burst into a Phillipine village square, shooting everyone in sight, until they were killed. This "martyrdom" then assured them a place in Paradise, just as our present day terrists believe. However, the muslims (at least of that day) also assumed that (all parts of) their bodies had to receive proper religious burial.
The raids stopped when the Marines and Army hit on the solution of decapitating the corpses, and burying the body and head in separate, secret locations, with the mouths of the head stuffed with pork!
What possible good can Arab-Israeli peace talks do? The Palestinians insist on at least a seperate state, but to date have demonstrated that they are NOT capable of running a state. They are solely organized for war- and their sole motivation is for war; and if they manage to annihilate Israel, will simply turn on each other and/or Europe.
The so-called 'good' Lebanese and Palestinians, i.e., the ones that are not consumed with blood lust, are overwhemingly Christian. In the past, this has led:
1. The muslim Palestinians to periodically attacking and slaughtering the Christian Palestinian villages (like the pogroms in Eastern Europe).
2. To periodic bloody civil war in Lebanon.
