What I noticed about my TurboTax this year , halochie , as compared to past years was that it updated itself a lot more easily than in some past years . Remember in past years , we had to download a " patch " , depending on our operating system before we could get a full update .

Appreciate the advice , halochie , about filing online , but we've never ever filed online and not ever likely to start now . We're of the mind set to always file by hand on the last day possible in April . Actually looks like next year , I'll be mailing our 2007 tax return from Pahoa on a real estate trip over there at that time if I'm on schedule at that time . Because of past problems we always mail our tax returns certified mail return reciept requested . Sometimes it takes over three weeks to get that little green signed post card back sometime in May when I'm usually back in Alaska .

Halochie,
I don't know if you are serious about your tax return going to India, but I don't think so. I think filing online is the best way to go, just be sure to print a copy if you do it yourself. It's probably safer than sending it through the mail. For those who owe the IRS money, you can still wait to the last day to send in your payment.

Pete is correct , jsavage . There was a documentary done awhile ago that more income tax returns were being out sourced to India by various U.S. companies . The major concern was that a individual's person data would end up in foreign data bases .

I have been googling to find info on outsourcing tax returns to India. I have found sources where some CPA's are doing it. Thats encouraging isn't it for people who trust CPA's. Haven't found anything on Turbotax yet. I did find this on a related subject about Turbotax.-- posted by jsavage

It's NOT tax software , jsavage , but tax preparer companies that outsource their work after getting your data .
We'll probably have to wait until next tax season in April to get another similar documentary done by national television again .
