- CACS
In response to CACS posted by doctorj2: I think the key to Kirk's success is that he's successfully identified a group of stocks that go through fairly frequent cycles, with very high peak to trough variance. Over the past couple of years the energy stocks have been very nice vehicles to do the same sort of thing, not with the same degree of peak to trough variance, but with the added benefit of having low PE ratios and paying a dividend, and I feel pretty confident that when they have a temporary swoon, as they are now, if I buy them back, like I did today with profit taking $$ from CACS and FNSR,I should be able to unload them at a 10-15% profit next time oil goes over $75 a barrel. Just my little stategy, but it's been working pretty nicely lately.

- Tech or Energy Stocks?
In response to CACS posted by codfish: I am a little leary about energy stocks because it seems like nearly all the news is good about the energy sector. It wouldn't surprise me if the big oil companies traded flat to down over the next 2-3 years. I'm no expert on big oil stocks but I think over the next few years tech stocks, which have pretty much gone nowhere in the past 2 1/2 years are more likely to outperform energy. I bought XOM at $42.16 on 3/11/04 but then sold all my shares on 2/11/05 at %$56.57 figuring I shouldn't get greedy. Today XOM closed at $68.30 so I missed out on that nearly 21% gain over a year and a half. But it was up more than 34% in the previous 9 months so it looks to me like big oil may have had its time in the sun. Given the low price of gas relative to oil lately it wouldn't surprise me that companies involved in gas exploration and production might do better than oil companies in the next year or two. What say ye all?

- CACS Down After Hours
CACS was off about 50 cents in after hours trading after revising its outlook for the next quarter downward because they say they got fewer orders from one customer that were being pushed forward into 2007.

- -Carrier Access cuts Q3 view on lower orders
In response to -Carrier Access cuts Q3 view on lower orders posted by Kirk: Well pushing revenues forward doesn't sound as bad as losing them all together so I bought back the 1000sh I sold a week ago at $9.16/sh today at $6.125. I just couldn't resist buying them back for 1/3 less than I sold them for just 7 days back. Of course, if it drops another dollar or two should they report even worse numbers than are now forcasting I'll feel like an idiot.
