Well $3.50 to $4 buying range is looking a lot better today after CACS ran up 22.5% to $4.63. Must be some news out there to move it that much in one day. Anyone see it?

» dax - Trading trouble - bad news?

Once again, I've been unable to place buy and sell orders online for CACS through my brokerage (E-Trade). I get this message: "Orders for this security cannot be accepted online at this time."
When I called, a live broker was able to put the order through. But I was told that certain stocks are on a daily list that could only be traded through a live broker, and CACS was now on that list.
Is this reason to worry?

picked up 2000 shares friday, sold half today for a $.63/share gain, holding the other 1000 for an apple laptop ($5.20 sell price)
These were in addition to my core position, which has a cost basis of $4.15.

When Suite 101 Investing went off the air, CACS was the last entry and I thought perhaps the SEC had frowned on it and the whole site. CACS was being pumped up at about $4/sh at the time. Now it stands at about 2.7. What happened?

Carrier Access shares fall on weak 3Q report; Wedbush Morgan cuts price target
Wednesday 10/31/2007 1:31 PM ET - Xinhua Financial News

Shares of Carrier Access Corp. fell Wednesday after the company reported a wider than anticipated loss for the third quarter with revenue falling 54% from a year ago.

-Very ugly report. Price target dropped $4 to $3 although shares have bounced almost 12% to $3.00 today. Sounds like they're in over their heads and need to be acquired at any cost.

BoltonCT,

All Investment discussion forums were temporarily disabled because the topic no longer had an assigned Feature Writer. The way things are set up at S101, it is Feature Writer's responsibility to moderate discussion forums, as well as provide topic content. So, no, there were, nor are, any SEC investigations, not even expressions of interest, etc. We simply went "off web" for not having a Feature Writer, that is all.

As far as any stock recommendations discussed, or potentially made, by the previous moderator are concerned, I'm afraid I cannot provide you with any meaningful information. I was simply not made aware of any prior history on S101 Investment dicussion boards.

What I can tell you is that in my capacity here at Suite101, I am not a registered salesperson, and as such, giving investment recommendations would represent a breach of securities regulations. In addition, Suite101 is not licensed to act in any advisory capacity either, which is why topic content provided on our Investment pages is intended purely, and solely, for investment education purposes.

That does not necessarily mean that we will attempt to censor forum participants while discussing specific securities, their features, and trading experiences. Suite101 may step in only if implications are made that such discussions have been initiated, or appear benefiting, Suite101 and its writers.

I hope this helps clarify things going forward.

Cheers,

Can you explain the reason Kirk is no longer involved or is there some communication about that?

crjim,

Kirk Lindstrom is no longer Feature Writer for Investments at Suite101, but I cannot offer you an explanation why since I was not made aware of it nor am I aware of any communication to that effect. Note, however, that his articles and blogs are available on this site if you wish to read them.

Thank you,

CACS Scam Lovers are perfect examples of morally challenged people feeding the crooks.

Yes, crooks will make money, but that is no excuse for engaging in actively that helps them.
